Believing that well-trained nurses are among a Hospital’s greatest assets, St. Anthony Foundation annually awards nursing scholarships to Hospital employees wanting to advance or begin a new career in the nursing profession. These scholarship funds and endowments have been established through the generosity of Foundation donors and applications are made available each spring to all employees of SSM Oklahoma.
In 2013, $17,872 in scholarships were awarded to 12 employees. Nursing scholarships encourage St. Anthony employees to pursue their passion to become nursing professionals. St. Anthony has a rich nursing education history starting with establishing the first accredited School of Nursing in Oklahoma which trained thousands of nursing students over its 75 years of operation. The School of Nursing merged with the Oklahoma City University School of Nursing in the mid-1980s but our commitment to the education of nursing professionals is still a strong part of our St. Anthony heritage.
Scholarship recipient and Nurse Apprentice Chantell Robinson shares, “Without this scholarship I was uncertain how I would find the necessary funds to continue nursing school. This scholarship is truly a blessing for me to continue my dreams in serving the community.”
